Well, somewhere between a year and two years lies the point at which I would say there's no longer any reasonable chance that he actually has something. Obviously every missed deadline makes it less likely, but one could reasonably give some allowance for resolving issues that might crop up. As opp...

Why rush to the public when they have the both the need & opportunity to continue fleshing out WB8+. Their current funding is solid- No reason to rock the boat unless they find it necessary to keep up with the Joneses (ie. workable alternative device). Yeah. Why indeed, when those involved have got...

That is true, yet a successfull fusion device might sign the end of the fusion research in other apparatus for quite some time. I see it quite the opposite, if a fusion device is proven as workable...this is going to lead to a Gold Rush opportunity for those already in a solid postion. EMC may be i...

And I commend Tom for correcting thread drift....we are definately back on a firmer scientific footing.

It's run the full gamut- from Science and Simon's mug to hunters and gatherers.

Forgive me folks, but what are we talking about here? Polywell...or general DOE funding and politics? I'm completely with you that the DOE's agenda is politically motivated, but is there proof that it (or Chu) is withholding funding from Polywell ? I'm not defending the DOE, but I am calling into qu...

Possible, but the solicitations are rather tightly worded with well specified milestones. Given the pressure the Navy is receiving from the DoE not to fund this technology (it competes with Tokamak), I think there really is a fair bit of pressure on EMC2 to perform or they really will get the chop....

...and we're shaving $600 million off of NASA's budget of $4 bil this year. (I guess the theory is that you've got to economize somewhere... God knows it seems they're not economizing anywhere else.) $4 billion budget for NASA? WTF? What would happen if we bumped that up to $10 bil/year for the nex...

Well, they didn't have to ask what a cusp was and what Maxwellian means, so they were probably a BIT ahead of most of us. Also, they had ALL the data, which as Art is fond of point out, we have not been blessed with. Very true- And yet, even if it was all laid bare- How much time would someone need...

It seems likely that the Navy consulted with Nebel after the review and asked what modications would be necessary to bring further clarity to the experimental results (instead of just saying "Here's another 2 million...see you in another year"). From all we have heard of the experimental results, so...

as well as a strong supporter of the Navy and armed services. Clearly the same cannot be said of the President elect or his supporters. I think you owe a lot of people an apology, for spewing that kind of hatred. Roger, Gimme a break...hatred? You've got to be kidding me. I don't hate Obama or the ...

I dare say from my own biased assumptions that it will be a lacking of some necessary or required behaviour for someone who holds such an office. But I digress... Considering this forum is for Polywell, I can only hope that our new leadership has the ability to remain open minded about alt energy so...

No war talk…this revolves around policy changes that are likely to come. Yes- There will be more money for other efforts, the big question is what are those efforts? Obama’s main push will be social policies that expand government- There is only so much money to go around. It’s a matter of robbing P...
