Obama said: "We are going to ban all earmarks..." I'll believe it when I see it in action. Ditto. But I will say that I like the thinking and the direction this SEEMS to be going. I liken it to change-tracking and open-source development. Change-tracking - the idea of having a bill on the web or in...

So lighting may have an undesirable affect regardless of the location. On the subject of crime, I've heard that fences tend to have a negative affect from one's intention since a thief, once inside a fence, no longer has to worry about prying eyes from the neighborhood. (And any half-witted thief kn...

Another link from September 22, 2008 that I've not seen on this thread. This is an interview with John Deal, the CEO of Hyperion Power Generation: http://www.techrockies.com/story/0017490.html Note that he differentiates powering homes in the U.S. vs. homes outside the U.S. Thirty megawatts is enoug...

To take a quote from commenter "ron nord" to the link MSimon posted: There seems to be a concerted plan or scheme to ruin the United States by the Democrats and it has been going on for a long time now. Right, I think we would have noticed if 40% of the U.S. had conspired to "ruin" the U.S. Rather t...

The Saudis just reduced oil output to maintain price. And your point is...? Let's see, we TALK about increasing our domestic production in the U.S. and the Saudis simply reduce output to maintain price. So what is going to happen when we actually DO increase domestic oil production by a very small ...

And, maybe we could stick with "BFR" for ship or rocket engines. The captain yells to the engine room, "Beef 'er up!"

Well, Tom, not to be a negative-nelly, but I could also envision a situation where someone in Congress puts together a bill to fund Polywell research for the foreseeable future then one of the 2 scenarios takes place. Either the Republicans will add an earmark to this bill requiring that an oil rig ...

OK, take the following monologue with a grain of salt (of course, that could be said for much of the speculation here in the past couple of months). Anyway: Looking at a few comments from the article and from other posts on this site: MSimon quoted here: http://www.talk-polywell.org/bb/viewtopic.php...

I, too, like either Polywell or Bussard Fusion Reactor, BFR for short. If I had to choose only 1 I'd go with "Polywell". If "BFR" does become common I think it is important to NOT exclude "Fusion" from that phrase. To Bill's point earlier, people do not like things associated with reactors or nuclea...

Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI)

What about the Rocky Mountain Institute? Might they have close ties to UCS and also be an important ally? They were commissioned by the Pentagon to prepare the publication "Winning the Oil Endgame".
