Where I live they steal the security camera's even though they become clearly identified in the process. No fear of arrest unless theft over $1000.00. I've seen some really expensive security cameras ... $1500+ in some cases. And they don't look that expensive until you see the images and options t...

Confused? Well, you should be!.... A "patent" is a commissioning declaration by a monarch and harks back to the time when you gave your idea to a monarch and if he was sufficiently pleased with you then he might commission you to work the idea [for him] as a monopoly. While I've always understood h...

Sometimes that just makes the commentary more pointed, I think. :D

My three year old definitely understands both possession and ownership. As an example, he asked for a drink of my soda. I let him have a drink, and when he placed it back on the table I went to get a drink as well. He complained that it was his soda. I explained it was mine, but that I let him have ...

I remember hearing that some folks met Rodenbury at a Con and asked him, point blank, "how do the transporters work?". His answer? "Quite well, thank you." :D I think that pretty much sums up the technical accuracy of teh Star Trek universe, irregardless of what real-world tech or theory their stuff...

Re: Gravity repels

you would basically see a clump of dense +g matter and -g matter moving away from each other. Why this doesn't seem to be is that the cosmic background noise should show this disparity and it doesn't. Cool. I was hoping for something definitive to close down this line of thinking. I get a lot of in...

I'm going back to the Tetrahedron, i prefer its simplicity and its symetries to ugly cube The tet doesn't work unless rectified, in which case it is an octahedron. Round and round we go... Thats why I'm hoping a dodecahedron is in the cards for the current round of work being done. Its not much mor...

I love that we are so advanced in technology but I just don't understand why we don't take this grant money and put it towards something that could be used to improve everyday life. For example, the work on these micro turbines could be used to conserve fossil fuels. Isn't the entire point of these...

My understanding of the idea was to have the injectors outside, imparting just enough energy to the ions/electrons to get them through the magrid and into the well. Once in the well, the physics of the polywell would do the rest.

We also have to make a vow to each other right now to not let this go if it does work, do not let this be buried, covered up, etc. We should probably also agree to let things go if in fact the Polywell does not work. I'm hoping it does, and based on what I've seen so far I think it will, but I'm no...

100MW is tantamount to an at least break-even design, isn't it? WB-9 is explicitely designated as "fusion demonstrator". How could WB-8 be 100MW if WB-9 is the fusion demonstrator? From the way it reads to me, WB-9 is supposed to be the version made using improvements from WB-8. * WB-7: test/verifi...
