We do have some nanotechnology people. Some work with nano-tubes to make things super strong, like super strong fibers to to allow for the building of things like space elevators. Others prefer nano-particles for things such as drug delivery. Still others engineer catalysts. And finally quantum dots...

I created a tutorial which describes phase behavior of a system consisting of three substances: hydrogen, helium, and boron. The main objective of this tutorial is to aid in discovery of how much, if any, boron condenses out of the gaseous phase. The same methods used in this tutorial may also be us...

Sorry so late. Thanks for your comments. It is a lot of consider. With everything, there is consequence, but with everything, there is also an opportunity. I am a firm believer in this: "Somebody will build it; and when it's built, it will work; and when it works people will begin to use it, and it ...

Dr. Mike, thank you for your response. Plasma etch has crossed my mind, and so have solar arrays and fuel cells which both can use polymers. However, for reasons that will be apparent below, these do not appeal greatly to me. I am a bit concerned by this, because I am going against such well-constru...

Thermoplastics are a class of polymers that lend themselves well to extrusion. One common thermoplastic is polypropylene. The operating temperature for polypropylene extrusion is between 195 and 210*C even though the melting point of polypropylene is around 165*C (of course this depends on the tacti...

Understanding devolatilization of the ceramic substrate requires knowledge of phase equilibria. Scary terms such as fugacity, gibbs free energy, and chemical potential pop up in these realms. And then comes the laws of thermodynamics and properties of each species present. How do these ceramic struc...

Majoring in IEC Fusion
Here is a general question for the group. I am very interested in pursuing further study to prepare myself for study of IEC Fusion. I have a B.S. in Chemical Engineeering, and I am working towards a M.S. in Chemical Engineering with a focus on Polymer Processing, which should be complete in a year o...

David- It would be difficult website to make. It would be kind of like a social networking site, but more complicated because there would be a hierarchical. People may have their own profiles, but they may be akin to those found in a video game (ones that illustrate their accomplishments). It seems ...

Quiz Website
I have been thinking about creating a website that allows users to create quizzes about a particular topic, with the intention of learning as I go. Are there any sites that function as described below? If not, would it make sense to create one? I have thought about giving the site the following rule...

I remember that there was a website speaking of nuclear proliferation, and the implications of countries going nuclear. I remember that it was both a blessing and a curse to be a nuclear power. For any country that is a nuclear power, they must be always be weary of conflicts going nuclear. Therefor...

Roger, I can't say I've heard of many of these things with exception of the turntable. A little sad I know. After a little research, it seems like you have a pretty good set up. I was getting hooked on the distortion capabilities of the morely pedal. Is that what they use for Beverly Hills by Weezer?

I posting this in hopes that it might be useful. Having not looked into the coils too deeply, and their heat transfer requirements, I cannot say it will be much of a help. Check out microchannel heat exchangers. The paper that I have provided below states that heat transfer is higher in small channe...

I think Galileo, and the trouble he faced being accepted. Yet, he was a great scientist. ..."ditto" with the last person does not promote advancement, only something original it seems. ....so to me, you're well on your way. I found the strangest thing when searching for second virial coefficients. A...
