Re: Terminal SCC Brain cancer of unkown origin and cell type

Thanks TD. I haven't looked deeply in to DCA. My pet hope is a weakened form of Listeria coupled with an isotope of rhenium-188 that emits beta radiation with a very short half-life of only 17 hrs. Some background on this that cancer cells are immuno-comprimesed compared to the non-cancerous in the ...

Terminal SCC Brain cancer of unkown origin and cell type

I have it. I am not looking to diagnose/treat my cancer as it is always fatal. SCC is a very aggressive cancer with poor outcomes measured in months (2-14 months?) specially after it has metastasized. It has a high a rate recurrence with those cases that do go into remission with a poor long-term pr...

Re: Beyond silicon: Transistors without semiconductors

not sure if yall heard, but there's this new technology which is the memristor. Properties of memristor -fundamental circuit element (like resister, capacitor, inductor) -in fact http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Memristor.png -thus the device can and should be smaller than transistors, which are c...

Beyond silicon: Transistors without semiconductors

BNNT + Gold QD = no heat/leakage, quantum tunneling of the electrons, each electron is confined to a single QD and it works at room temperature. No leakage = the Ghz race back on, there will be less disparity between desktops/laptops/tablets/phones. Main memory (DRAM) can be replaced with much faste...

Re: SpaceX News

SpaceX has already shown their willingness to persevere in the face of adversity. The first three flights of the Falcon 1 were failures. The 4th and 5th flights were successes and paved the way for the Falcon 9.

Plasma contained by a self generated magnetic field

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/04/130416151931.htm Short on specifics, claims that the device could revolutionize energy generation and storage. The inventor, Dr. Randy Curry is associated with the University of Missouri. Here are some additional references to his works: http://www.journa...

Re: Disruptive user-interface technology available soon

I've had a leap controller on order for a while - only another month to go. I expect we'll eventually see a whole range of new user interface tools gaining traction with the challenge of how to each one effectively and how to combine them to use them synergistically. Perhaps the leap controller coul...

Re: Forbes - Fusion Crash Program Required

Rob, You are just saying the same thing only with positive spin. If it works, why is it still funded at minimal levels other than bureaucratic fumbling and risk avoidance? Meanwhile, windmills, etc are being subsidized heavily, with big money, later to be abandoned due to maintenance costs. (Nice p...

Re: Rick Nebel Discussed DC Transformer Project in Los Alamo

Ironically, this may actually make Polywells slightly less viable. Remember, a major PW selling point is the reactor size, because of the distribution problems of really big reactors. If you make the distribution problem smaller, bigger reactors make more sense. Of course that's all marginal next t...

If only we could get all those idiots sitting on toilets smoking pot and solving the world's problems to go out and get a job. As opposed to the idiots sitting on toilets smoking pot who already have a job, say in the military? Given the military's long history of chronic drug use do you really wan...

Re: Quantum Refrigeration

Now your IR signature can be resolved by zero-helium staring arrays in geostationary orbit, instead of LEO/MEO. I feel safer. Not the first thing I would have thought of. Hopefully it can be used to bring down the cost of medical imaging equipment and allow for significantly faster clock rates for ...

The cooling power is the equivalent of a window-mounted air conditioner cooling a building the size of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Note, the cooling quote above would be true if the device could be scaled up although there's no indication that that is the possible. http://www.scienceda...
