Please, if you want to write about involuntary sterilization as another government program, go to the other thread I just created for you. How about in lieu of? Apart from that, you chose a strawman phrasing, and i'll not grant your prejudicial premise by lending your ventriloquist dummy my voice. ...

rJay, actually I think that's in error. Currently, Medicaid (and Medicare) are available, but IIRC these are Great Society programs, which under the premise of this thread are gone . I don't think the fiscal conservatives are necessarily barbarians, but I find it instructive to imagine, think about...

Pay for your children, or get mandatory birth control!
For those of you who wish to further discuss this topic, please use this thread. You have already used "Calling All Fiscal Conservatives" as a starting point, but I ask you to consider the six main questions: Who, What, When, Why, How and Where. You've mostly answered the first three or four, but ha...

Your remark about "running out of money" is interesting. Who are we? We, in this case, are the tax-paying people of the United States of America and anyone else who contributes to the treasury of the United States. Where does the money come from? If you can answer the question you are closer to a s...

Diogenes, WizWom & chrismb, "My solution: If the Government pays for your birth, then you get sterilized, no exceptions. BOTH parents." As I have pointed out at the beginning of this thought experiment, there is no government program to pay for the pre- and post natal care of a child, nor the delive...

I bow to your superior knowledge and experience. However, I invite your attention to just one of the differences between the all of the F-15 varieties and the MiG-25. Down, side and rear visibility for the pilot. The F-15 pilot sits high and has good visibility for dogfighting. The MiG-25 pilot has ...

On your OP: I think it's kind of a bad premise to debate the merits and demerits of society without those programs. It starts with a bad situation and implicitly assumes that this circumstance is a consequence of a society without those programs ( e.g. Starting an analogy with "suppose a man breaks...

Yeah, thats the Tomahawk clone, or near clone. Another good example (along with the F-15/Mig-25) of how similar mission parameters result in nearly identical design solutions. I must beg to differ, the F-15 was originally designed as an air superiority fighter. The MiG-25 has never been anything ot...

My solution: If the Government pays for your birth, then you get sterilized, no exceptions. BOTH parents. Sorry, there was a tiny ambiguity in your first sentence: "If the the Government pays for your birth," Who is this "you"? You mean the parents. Okay, no children of irresponsible parents gettin...

Thank you all for your informative and interesting posts. Below, I quote a lot of people out of context, please forgive me if I misrepresent your ideas in my answer. I'm not answering all of your posts and I'm taking them out of chronological order for my own purposes. Can't speak for everyone, but ...

Calling All Fiscal Conservatives
Suppose you get what you really want: the repeal of the New Deal and the Great Society programs. What then? Millions, unfortunately, depend on payments (AKA entitlements) from Social Security (e.g. my mom). Is my family now solely responsible to care for her? Just want to know so we can plan. Thanks.

The problem for nuclear has been and will continue to be heat rejection for the electrical cycle. Not a problem while we are using huge amounts of mass for thrust during launch - we can use the thrust mass as a heat sink, and throw the waste heat out the back. But a VERY big problem once we hit orb...
