Re: 2014 Dark Horse Trifecta Year?

CB, One critical thorn in LPP optimism is that their "onion" X-ray conversion scheme must work for their "break even" plan to work, and as far as I know nothing has been shown to make the onion believable. ? As the photoelectric effect is a known quantity what makes you think the onion is not belie...

I'll need to inform Eric Lerner of his newfound government funding immediately. He will be quite pleased.

Caution... living in a cloud of buzzwords just might obscure an oncoming train.

Also, it has been a while since I checked their website, and it looks like they updated it this month (2014). Actually, October 14th 2013 posting date for an article dated October 11, 2013 For some reason I had missed this, "THE 4TH IN HELION’S SERIES OF GROUNDBREAKING PROTOTYPES IS NOW OPERATIONAL...

Is he saying he is making Monatomic Hydrogen ? and what keeps it from returning to H2 Nope, a stable state of the hydrogen atom wherein the electron is in a lower energy state than current theory says is possible. Supposedly this process can be repeated, releasing energy each time, until the electr...

From what I understood there has been 1 newton of thrust from some of the resent test articles. What am i missing? ... er, you mean where they were extrapolating how many newtons per megawatt and suchlike? Such are appropriate figures when speculating on practical applications but you're not going ...

Saying you need 3,000kV is like saying (after the fact) that your process can't work. Nope, you misunderstood Axil: Eric Lerner said no such thing. Axil was the one proposing 3 megavolt capacitors... not Lerner. The 45 kV that the present caps are rated for is all that should be needed for the test...

... I'm not certain about DPF, FRC, of General fusion- if ignition is a requirement, Eric Lerner of LPP posted this over at FFS: LPP too is seeking ignition. That would occur in a pB11 plasmoid if the fusion power produced exceed x-ray losses, as the plasmoid heats up from not only the beam heating...

A rogue Obot.

Not many left even over at kos... at least not many who are so disconnected from reality that they'd confuse a corporate tool like Obama with MLK.

A lot of these issues would be reduced with more, smaller fans... Well, this particular item is just a one-off testbed for some concepts at this stage :) Further iterations will undoubtedly get deeper into the hypothetical weeds. I'd go with 4-6 fans as a balance between redundancy and weight+compl...
