Perhaps DoD might be able to provide some funding?

Re: Short Film on Carl's Fusor
I assume this is a Farnsworth-Hirsch fusor variant. How are the grids arranged to produce such a linear plasma configuration? Does the geometry cause the neutrons to also be emitted linearly along the beam, or are they still pretty much fired everywhere? If production is linear, this would make this...

“Right now, this design has the greatest potential of producing economical fusion power of any current concept,” said Thomas Jarboe, a UW professor of aeronautics and astronautics and an adjunct professor in physics. http://www.washington.edu/news/2014/10/08/uw-fusion-reactor-concept-could-be-cheape...

Re: Nanotech accelerator-on-a-chip
I think the applications to polywell and similar ideas are fairly obvious. Presumably these would make some very nice electron guns to fill up the Polywell wiffle ball, replacing the electrons lost to the grid. <not a accelerator expert> What would it take to make this thing shoot i.e. ions rather ...

Re: Li-ion battery with ~3X specific energy (Wh/kg) increase
More energy density would be in some ways nice, but did anyone else think "bang"? System stability under large scale manufacture and real world use is important. Help me out here... Wh = mAh * (V / 1000) 1 watt hour = 3600 joules so at 5V: 1200mAh/g * (5V / 1000) * 3600 J/Wh = 21600 J/g a...

Re: 10KW LENR demonstrator (new thread)
Remember, I asked for examples of Rossi contradicting HIMSELF, not some other person SAYING he contradicted himself. [-------------snip-------------] At this point, "I don't know" is the only logical statement I can make, though I keep looking for hard evidence one way or the other and ke...

Re: 10KW LENR demonstrator (new thread)
... Presently there is no more reason to believe Rossi than there is reason to believe there is an invisible pink unicorn living in my garage. Except he has had several purportedly credible witnesses and you, unless I have missed something, have not. True, not enough, but more than your PU. ;) Jose...

Re: 10KW LENR demonstrator (new thread)
Rossi's character is that he bought himself a phony sheepskin and deceived as many as possible as to his qualifications. Also isn't he a convicted fraudster in Italy? Remind me what was that all about? I fully agree that the preponderance of evidence seems to point clearly toward Rossi being a frau...

We interrupt the ongoing discussion of how great Rossi may or may
not be for a bit on the psychology of being open-minded vs closed-minded.
If nothing else, it might at least provide something new to argue about.
Who’s More Open-minded, You or Them?

Note that this post represents neither an endorsement nor rejection of Rossi, et al. Since we have pathological scepticism and pathological faith, can we classify this as pathological noncommittalism? I'm not certain if our noncommittalism is sufficient to merit the term pathological. I think we wi...

seems they push it over by 2, or 4 , or 6 in the table Whether or not they produce or consume energy, if they can develop this into an industrial process capable of producing commercial quantities of platinum (or perhaps gold), they will have a killer application of LENR on their hands. Both elemen...

Toyota has indeed confirmed excess energy,
