And this is where you would be wrong. Each and every plant was designed and engineered individually for a specific size and for the location in which it was to be installed. They had to go thru not 1 but 2 detailed, expensive and time consuming certification processes, one for the reactor design an...

No, they have been going to larger and larger cores in order to save on the number of operators. But the early plants were ~100-300 MW, and many countries are installing plants of this size still, even though they have demand the larger plants - because the smaller plants are cheaper to build. Smal...

I'm sure small scale fission reactors will prove appropriate in distant places where power grid expand would be difficult and too expensive. While that kind of application might hold for them, they will not be able to replace standar big units. As far as Polywell is concerned I guess it will be far ...

Another big problem of small-scale nuclear plants is their economical (non)competitiveness. I'm sure you've all heard that comparison about shoemakers. A small manufacturer makes 500 pairs a week. Then you come and say "What would a pair for me cost?" And ther we have another, big one, that makes 1 ...

Hi everybody! My first post here. Anyway, the article that you might be able to read or not (I cant right now, since I refuse to sign up to that place) was about a new type of nanomaterial that supposedly is rather efficient at directly converting radiation (of unfortunately unspecified kind) into e...
