Re: SpaceX News

Maybe you meant "more than 10% of the F9 first stage"? Added weight to the first stage does not really affect payload mass as much. It is more relevant for the BFS though, which is a second stage and there every added kg means a kg less payload. Yes, that's what I meant to say. Poor wordi...

Re: SpaceX News

Pathological skepticism is great! I think everyone could use more skepticism. I am comforted that you all are not concerned by this design change, though no one has really addressed how such a large surface area can be reliably/safely actuated at hypersonic speeds. In all fairness I don't think any...

Re: SpaceX News

There may even be a NET decrease if you use less inflated numbers than I did. I didn't run the numbers but that is probably the real situation. Any pipe beam that in general is longer than 8-10 times its diameter will start to show buckling and instability effects, even more if the beam is not perf...

From a static, dynamic and mechanical point of view, the fins are a much better solution than using longer legs in the original position.

Re: BLP news

It would be more entertaining if an angry mob of scammed investors raided the place, torched it down and dipped in tar and feathers all those scammers.

That would made for an interesting day.

Re: Deneum - deuterium/titanium interaction prces energy

A quick search of people's names/pictures shows the involvement of some in previous ICO/Tokens scams.
The profiles/pictures of the scientists are made up. A scam not even well planned.
Rossi at least involved some real people to make it look more real

Re: Deneum - deuterium/titanium interaction produces energy

Well at least is something new. I never saw before an excess energy scam connected to an ICO with Token sales.
It's always the same crap in the end, but gotta give them credits for the fantasy that they are showing.

I wonder if Rossi will follow their steps in launching an ICO

Black Light Power (promised demonstration model in 2017 and products later that year, still nothing true to form) Not 2017, BLP has been scamming investors since much longer than that. It was founded in 1991 with a "tested technology", a "working prototype" and a "time to m...

That is quite interesting and unexpected news.
Out of curiosity (and if you can reply), are you part of a technology incubator of some sort or doing this completely out of yourself?

Re: Mark Duncan has passed ...

My sincere condolences to Mark Duncan's family. His work was deeply appreciated from most of the people interested in this research. Unfortunately with every loss keeping the Polywell legacy alive might become more and more difficult. Crossing fingers that someone will soon pick over again research ...

Re: Army discovers new energy source

I am pretty sure that the O2 is bonded to the Al2 to form Al2O3 powder and leave a pure H2 stream, else you would have a gas mixture of O2 and H2 with little to no practical use. When they mention that the H2 recombine with the O2 to form H2O they mean that this happens into the fuel cell where the ...

Re: Army discovers new energy source

It seems an amazing breakthrough if confirmed. My only concern it that the article claim 220 KW of ENERGY in less than 3 minutes..... so is not really clear what they really want to say. I wish they would learn to express ENERGY and POWER in a proper and correct way when writing such articles. It wo...

I would not hold my breath too much. So far they failed to disclose any meaningful information regarding the characteristics and capacity of their production, except for the usual fancy commercial graphs. Additionally the pictures they posted now are of quite "low tech" machinery and equip...
