Yikes 32 USD per gallon? That is insane! In order to be somewhat successful it would have to come down to at least 4 USD per gallon. That would still be quite pricey. Otherwise it would not be economic, even with lots of government subsidies. So I hope that their research will help reduce the cost ...

I have a Korean wife here, but this doesn't look like worth her time to translate. It very much seems to be a simple advertisement for services. As an aside, the Korean alphabet is very easy to learn. A linguist could do it in an afternoon, though it took me a couple of weeks. There's 20 odd main sy...

My girlfriend walks 2 hours a day to work and back and her other workers think her kinda-weird for doing that, as they reply 'no one walks today with buses, trains!' as if to do so is free somehow.. . 2 hours on foot is 30mins...

Re: Shocked I Say!

If turmoil reigns for a few more weeks....we'll see oil below $60/bbl And just a few years ago, we were "shocked, shocked I say!" to see oil bound up from the $20-$25 a barrel to over $40! Now we might be eagerly hoping for prices to go down to $60 a barrel... Hmmm... Be Safe Mumbles Quite right. R...

We could well see another spike next year and then another and so on... As of right now we simply don't have the margin between supply and demand that we've had in the 80s and 90s. That dictates historically high though volatile prices untill either demand goes down or supply up. I can't see supply ...

I know quite a few Germans who speak perfect English. But "Schweinhund" seems an unlikely surname.
What I meant was that if he's that well educated he's not likely to believe in such hooey.

And yes the name is a bit of a clue.

And of course, once you have a working prototype you can refine the theory to fit it and improve it.

It is mentioned in the comments to the new Adam Boyle article that Hirsch MIGHT be the one heading the review panel.. http://cosmiclog.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/08/28/1301440.aspx This comment was a gem. One has to wonder if by conducting these fusion experiments, as with nuclear weapons testing, ...

Yes it's hard to imagine any current use for power that would be served by 1-10GW machines, that wouldn't be at least as well served by more, cheaper, 0.1-1GW machines. As for the practical limit: As long as it's well above the economic break even, who cares at this stage? I'm sure we'll find out i...

Even if you could handle that problem, then you'd have the not insignificant issue of moving that amount of energy from one location onto the grid. I doubt any part of a grid could handle that.

Better to have 128 1GW reactors IMO.

But we need to get breakeven first.

I think that if this project was an utter failure, we'd know about it by now. The question is: How much of a not utter failure was it?

Is it that we're concerned that EESTOR might be a scam because we don't have any information or prototypes showing that it works, even though mass production starts in a matter of months? The EEStore folks are scamming folks who know nothing about dielectric saturation. i.e. the dielectric constant...
