It will involve deuterium-tritium fusion, the aim of most competitors, but a mi...

Re: EMC2 news

Interview is a great find; it is 11 months since it was put on Youtube so we could be near an update. From the interview, given a year has passed, it sounds like EMC2 is near or 1 year away from having a model that will simulate a working machine that will say 'it should work' or 'it won't work.' Th...

"Skunk Works Building Bigger Fusion Reactor Jul 19, 2019 Guy Norris | Aerospace Daily & Defense Report Lockheed Martin’s ambitious plans to develop a compact fusion reactor (CFR) to provide clean nuclear energy remain on track according to the company and are set to move to the next stage w...

Re: More Helion Energy news....

It may also be a function of the ability of Helion to handle another huge project. They are right in the middle of developing, building, testing their reactor. Likely they are not pushing this other project.

Re: More Helion Energy news....

Should Helion be successful with their fusion to electric project which is sufficiently funded at this point, then we could no doubt expect this application to be resurrected. There is a good chance we will see this even before commercialization as proof of principle should be enough.

Re: General Fusion in the news

Hard to know. Plasma in the past was the tough hurdle and that has been crossed. Money in the private realm seems to be the tough one when it comes to 100's of millions. Helion has not exceeded 50 million total to date.

Re: General Fusion in the news

I wondered why they were dragging their heals on funding their demonstrator plant. Doubts, questions. People with big money want every conceivable unknown answered first. I wonder if this device can simulate well enough the large device, but if the small device can give them what they need, well it ...

Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

Cost. It does what they need it to do, it gives them engineering data. $200 million is nothing to sneeze at for Zero megawatts. They would not spend it unless the cat was in the bag based on Norman. Norman showed they can scale Temperature, control the plasma, achieve lifetime. Of course if you have...

Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

SJ I would not say finished, but enough information that Copernicus engineering and plans have been initiated. BTW, thank you for the links, looks like Helion and TAE are a go, General Fusion should be a go, but I had thought that PI3 was finished. Looks like they are still testing, which might expl...

Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

Look, I will say it again, the big milestone for TAE is proving the science and that is supposed to be done with Norman, their current machine, and their target is 2019 for that. Furthermore, 'PROOF' is a high standard. Before the 'proof' there is evidence, and as you can see TAE is confident based ...

Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

It was my understanding that the 'science' would be proven with Norman with a target of 2019, that the next prototype, Copernicus, would be used to nail down the engineering details for a commercial machine. I think that until the experiments on 'Norman' are concluded and published, the 2023 is just...

Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

I trust cost analysis these days as far as I can throw my trailer because of green power advocate lying. That is not to say I distrust you, it is just the people that write these analysis reports. Green power is a crooked business and heavily subsidized. Coal is dependent on the location of the plan...

Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

Solar? Got trees, snow, you get feet of snow and need heat? On your roof maintenance for suburb, and for cities not enough roof space, and for industry not enough power density or 24 your supply? LOL

Imaginary power source. I get a kick out of the so called green proponents.
