Re: SpaceX News

It was a bit scary how many tiles came off the Starship. Hopefully they have a path ahead for dealing with that.

The disruption, if it proves to be as real as it seems, will be tremendous. Looking forward to seeing it! Fingers crossed.

Re: Feeling lonely sometimes

Reading through, I wondered when I joined. 2009! I feel like Polywell is such an elegant idea that it just has to work!

I have enjoyed very much reading all the dialogue (even if I don't post much), in particular yours Skipjack! So thank you!

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024

One of the issues with nuclear in ships is where they can go. Portcalls are limited because not every city/country is willing to have a nuclear reactor sitting in their harbor, especially pier side. There is also the cumbersome nature of fission reactors. A gas turbine power plant ship can go from d...

(you have been a huge boon in the past and it looks like progress pace is picking up).
I just want to highlight this point and say thank you specifically to Skipjack for keeping us informed on Helion (and others!) progress.

Re: MIT claim they will build the SPARC

This is getting pretty exciting! Between TAE and SPARC, 2025/2026 (inevitable delays) are going to be pretty explosive!

Just wish we knew what was going on with Polywell.

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024

I think Elon has a bit of hubris, which considering his success is hard to blame him for having. I think he has thought long and hard about pathways to getting humanity off the "tit" of fossil fuel and believes in solar and batteries (and wind). Therefore, since he has thought long and hard and deci...
