Re: SpaceX News

GPS 3-1 goes up today courtesy of a one way Block 5. I wonder if they will try a landing sequence at sea for data collection. Apparently this one is going up hot due to the delivery energy requirement, and thus is deemed not landable. Interesting given it is going to a HEO profile. Maybe they just ...

Re: SpaceX News

It has been "seen" before in several launches , people are just talking about it now. CRS10 the tesla launch, Here is a good example from the feb 2017 launch It just looks big because of the wide lens and angle. Camera level also determines what a viewer is able to see in a video. Lines wo...

Re: SpaceX News

Sorry guys , no little green men or super secret squirrel satellite. It is oxygen ice from inside the nozzle on stage two when the turbo pump runs a pre-chill cycle before startup, hence the blueish hue to it. It falls on top of stage one then falls off. Also stage one pre cools before fi...

Re: Extraterrestrial colony companies

As for your argument about larger gravity wells that only makes sense if I assume they (the hypothetical aliens) never developed anything beyond chemical rockets at least for their launch systems. Surely at some point someone would invent a high thrust/energy to weight ratio nuclear drive of some s...

Re: Extraterrestrial colony companies

If polar regions are premium real estate on the Moon, a transfer station at L1 or L2 seems a strategic location to catch a shuttle to the lunar surface. I'm assuming a transportation architecture where using 3 specialized spacecraft and 2 transfer stations, one in LEO and the other somewhere near t...

Re: Extraterrestrial colony companies

I have to agree wholeheartedly. Our next big step needs to be the availability of cheap dependable energy for the long-term. We can go back to our historical record and find civilization after civilization basically collapsed because the lack of available energy to overcome flood, famine, climate ch...

CSC is an option also.

No harm in asking, and even if a no, Joe might know a proper place with funds to take it.
