Re: 3D Gun

Well, eventually, high quality firearms will be printable. I think that is something every one here can agree on. As for the effectiveness of gun control that is the controversy. To me it's very apparent that gun control is completely ineffective at preventing murder and crime. The reason the govern...

Re: 3D Gun

The cartridge is the hard part to fab.... So.... Before we had brass cartridges, for a couple of years, paper cartridges were used. Or since, it's a single shot device, why not do away with a cartridge in the first place and make it a pure muzzle loader design. If a pure muzzle loader using black po...

In terms of the energy and thrust balance issues. If one looks at a thruster moving at less than 0.1 c... Could you use standard Newtonian mechanics to understand what is going on. What I'm saying is that you put the thruster inside a black box and disregard anything happening inside the box. Just w...

I'm pretty sure that Jim's experimental M-E thruster never moved or only moved sub millimeter distances. Could somebody here please verify that. This means we are talking about a statically generated force. I can take two metal plates held at a rigid distance from each other and give them both a pos...

Just looking back at my own post and trying to understand what I wrote...

Hope other people can understand it better than I can...

this trouble only comes up when engineers pretend to be physicists and ignore the need to do transforms that is so obvious to the physicist. The same laws of physics are observed by engineers and physicists. There is no difference in how they deal with creating macroscopic energy from nothing....It...

Even if the thrust is reduced when the M-E thruster is accelerating, which basically works out to the energy drain I was talking about earlier. It is still possible that the M-E thruster could be significantly more efficient about turning energy into delta-V. A good example is a Jet engine is far mo...

Just a minor point... I said Generators, not Motors... I was talking about Generators having a mechanical back force which is why you need a source of mechanical power to turn them.

I'm still not entirely certain what you're saying but I'll take a shot at trying to answer your questions here. M-E thrusters have electrical power in and generate stationary thrust. What makes them unique is they don't need propellant to do this, so they avoid the "rocket equation" and all the tro...

Again, I don't know the math or the equations of the ME thruster. But what if for example an ME thruster that is generating thrust and accelerating creates a force that counteracts the vibration of the mass. This force would tend to reduce the amplitude of the vibration and would require energy to b...

I'm not sure about the math here so, I'm making a couple of assumptions. What are the implications of the following. 1. If an ME thruster accelerates, something happens, I'm being a bit vague here, but what happens is that energy is bled out of the thruster. 2. If an ME thruster moves out of a gravi...

No, he uses a mailing list instead. It is not so much intended for discussion as to put out his data each week. People on the list do however respond and if they have any concerns they write them to the list. This is how Jim gets feedback to his methods and protocols. Its a very good way to do scie...

Regarding the discussion about entropy. I've heard it said many times that entropy can only increase... it can never decrease for a system. I also, seem to remember reading somewhere that there is a theoretical maximum amount of entropy that can be contained inside of a volume. So, assuming the univ...

Was thinking about the grav-inertial force and came up with the following.

F_Strong + F_Electro_Magnetic + F_Weak + F_Grav_Inertial = 0

So the sum of all the four forces is zero.

1) Electro-magnetic
2) Weak Nuclear
3) Strong Nuclear
4) Grav-Inertial

Just a thought.
