Adaptive Grid for simulations
If you want to do a 3D Polywell simulation, then the video at the link below provides some hints about how to do it. The video explains the use of adaptive grids. Where detail is not important, you can use a large grid size. Where small detail is important, use a small grid. The adaptive grid change...

Re: Radially-Magnetized, Permanent Magnet, Multi-Grid Fusor
Sedwick is apparently now at the University of Maryland (http://www.umerc.umd.edu/projects/plasma-06). This page also mentions Nebel, who used to be with EMC2, and his approach. The first post in this thread connects Sedwick and T.J. McGuire in the document's first reference. Is T.J. McGuire the Tom...

Re: Interview with Stephen O. Dean (Fusion Power Associates)
Of particular interest to me was the "fusion never" graph in Part 1 of the interview. Dean explains how simply keeping a program going does not necessarily make progress towards the actual goal.

Interview with Stephen O. Dean (Fusion Power Associates)
An interview with Stephen O. Dean is available at the links below. Dr. Dean has a fusion advocacy organization called Fusion Power Associates. He has the perspective obtained from 50 years in fusion.

Reality has a well-known liberal bias
If I had my druthers, I would simply re-define the word "religion" to extricate it from the clutches of all the unwholesome things that have a hold on it now. The only religion worth talking about is a religion that is based only on things that are true, is capable of making progress and being impro...

I heard about a small tokamak that was made available to people who wanted to run their own experiments on it. You could change the parameters via the Internet. Maybe you could test out your ideas that way.

To whoever wrote: "How about treason? Obama knows full well he is not Permitted to be President because he is not a Natural Born Citizen. Taking the oath of office which REQUIRES him to defend the U.S. Constitution, is an immediate violation of the oath. " Is that true? Is the president a natural bo...

It used to be that, out of politeness, I would never argue with people about their opinions when the opinions involved strong feelings. But I have changed my mind. I care about what is actually true. I care about what is true, and what is real, because we live in the real world. Delusions about the ...

Plasmoid Acceleration
About 10 years or so ago NASA funded some research on accelerating plasmoids. Some hardware was built. I remember seeing a picture of it. The idea was to develop an engine with a very high specifc impulse.

I appreciate everyone's input. If someone can produce software that would make tangible progress towards a working reactor, I would be happy to donate my computing power for that purpose. So too, I suspect would thousands of other people. Seti@home had great success in using the computing power of (...

Suppose you had 10e18 floating point operations to play with (1000 fast PCs running for a few weeks). What kind of progress would that enable? Would that be enough to find the magnetic field that would result from some particular configuration of magnets? Would it be enough to simulate a million ele...

Numerical Simulation of a Polywell
Is it possible to simulate a polywell in a computer? If so, then such a simulation should be able to provide answers to questions about any particular polywell design. It is clear that a simulation would require a large number of calculations, but computing power has increased quite a bit since the ...
