so the gammas are basicly high energy xrays, or hard xrays, a surface with high enough density should be capable of deflecting them, a multi layer system would probably eliminate all of it. xrays have enough trouble going through hardened steel.

Why don't we just spatter transfer the interior walls with tungsten, its a fairly good neutron reflector and temperature resistant.

I drew an arc inside the microwave using thoriated tungsten rods, with a high voltage transformer

I cant show you because my computer might explode if i tried to record it, from all the radiation.

its the brightest plasma Ive ever seen.

so... I removed the fuel injector nozzle, and put in a arc gap. its powered by a high voltage transformer and makes a good plasma on its own. I have a small (800 watt) and large (1200) microwave transformer, a 2/35/200 amp 12 volt DC power supply, and a 90 amps worth of deep cycle batteries. Also potentially a large car alternator I could run off a gas engine.

Basically yes, I'm hoping that the Thoriated tungsten can be super heated and emit massive infrared radiation, without melting. I can then use the heat coming off of that to heat the atmosphere to plasma around it. I may also put this into a chamber to be shot with microwaves to promote plasma forma...

10" long wire, 1/4" spacing, 6 turns plus 2 inches for attaching power supply.

is there a way to transfer less heat to the coil, and more to the field around it? Does AC power heat the coil as much as equivalent power DC?

I want to heat a Thoriated tungsten rod with it.

Magnetic field power levels

Whats the best ratio of voltage and amperage to use for powering the coils, using size 10 solid core?
Intending on producing a field that has an exterior magnetic field of 1/2 inch diameter around the wire.

So what are some good methods for developing a plasma?

Ive recently considered inductive heating to assist in the process, maybe in conjunction with microwaves.

Or super heating a Thoriated tungsten electrode until it emits infrared radiation.

Hmm, that explains why I was not getting any output from the end of the tube. I set a jar with a small amount of water on top of that tube to test for output and it didn't heat. I tested it before i welded the tube to the RF gasket and it heated the water The microwaves were not transferring through...
