Actually until one of us does an experiment or EMC^2 releases more of their results, we're kind of working on a very vague idea. Theory is nice, but data trumps. so, yes, we are operating on a lot of faith in this sector.

This is older, but also pretty cool.

I think it would have some real applications for indoor gardening. Using it for regular lighting may cause sunburns.

I heard about them on NOVA concerning fractals and it was one of those "well duh!" moments where you realize that makes an awful lot of sense. So I thought if fractals are used in nature to increase surface area to volume ratios and that's one of the things that effects corona discharge it could be ...

With little theoretical basis I'm going to try incorporating a fractal pattern into the top, thin wire part, and see if it increases lift by increasing current flow without increasing mass too much. I'd like to read research on this matter, but I don't rightly know where to look. I know there's a ja...

You jab would have worked better if you'd managed to splice them into one big block instead of 7 parts. If we have hosting problems I could talk to my sister, she works at google.

No, just that he's getting a bit surly at scientists for wanting to explore things at costs orders of magnitude less than other projects. and also at the few americans who are actually interested in science for being interested/excited in/about science.

Also, I made a small goof regarding how forces are compared. Given equal kinetic energies an electron would not only be lighter, but also faster and thus more force exerted on it. So at this point in the night I can say the magnetic field confines electrons better than alpha particles in all regards.

So what's keeping the electrons confined is that as a charged particle moves through a magnetic field, it'll feel a force at right angles, making it want to spin in circles. This force is dependant on velocity and magnetic field strength (VxB). Now lets say we have electrons and these helium particl...

Electrons are a fundamental particle actually, all nuclei have the same electrons. The electron has an equal but opposite charge compared to the proton and the idea is that you are able to inject an electron inside of the polywell which is acting as a magnetic bottle for the electrons. The electrons...

Personally, If we could do asteroid or lunar mining I'd prefer that, we've hacked away at the earth long enough. getting under the mantle by way of tunnels has a very high possibility of things going wrong, and strip mining is right out.

Now, I'm not terribly familiar with licensing and intellectual property because to a certain extent the idea of imprisoning ideas hurts my higher reasoning portions of my brain, but doesn't licensing lose it's appeal when the major elements of the thing your licensing are public domain or whatever e...

Since you're unfamiliar with the concept of a primary source (such as diaries, source footage or experimental data) I'll give you it form someone conservative so you can believe it.
